Little Moments

Hey, guys it’s Ellie Blake. Welcome back to the Fuck the Status Quo podcast in blog form. I’m here with another nugget episode for you guys.

I was just sitting here thinking, as I often do — since I’m philosophical as fuck, about how most shit in life is temporary. And I think the older you get and the faster the months and years seem to go by, you begin to understand that more.

And there are other things in life that aren’t temporary. I mean, for the sake of this conversation … with myself, I realize there’s like eternity and shit. But I’m talking about a human being an eternity being you’re entire life. And I kinda realized a lot of life-long lasting things are either really good or really bad.

Like a life sentence in prison — really bad. Life altering. Having a baby — still really life altering, but in the best way.

And, in both of those scenarios, it was a temporary decision that led to that life altering thing. You murdered someone which was a temporary act, that took up the tiniest fraction of your life, and it resulted in a permanent decision. (Unless your innocent and were wrongly accused of murder — go listen to episodes 14, 15, and 20 if you have no idea what I’m talking about).

And then to have a baby … well, we all know how that happens. It was a temporary act, hopefully not too temporary, that led to this permanent thing.

As I was sitting here just trying to be more positive and have a differen outlook on some things and what other areas of my life that this same concept can apply to … so it made me think of my business.

I work my fucking ass off right now, you guys. Last month, my sister had a fucking fabulous wedding in Greece and it was the first time in over 2 years that I had more than 2 days in a row off from my business. And I love what I do, otherwise I literally would not do it. Like mmmmmm…. Don’t play with me. I WON’T. I ain’t about that life.

But I kind of realized like, “Hey, all this hard work is extremely temporary. I know the days seem painfully long sometimes but in the grand scheme of things, this is so short.” And then I thought about, “What is the life altering thing I’m looking to gain from this temporary action? What is the permanent outcome of this action? And it’s … a lot of things but it’s definitely life altering. In the good way.

So, yeah, I don’t know. Just kind of dumping my thoughts out to you guys right now. I encourage you to think about how you can apply that shit to your life. And maybe it’ll help change your outlook on something you’re currently going through. An obstacle you’re facing or a goal you’re trying to achieve.

And I hope it can help put into perspective just the idea that a lot of small moments in life that take up sometimes only seconds of time, sometimes way longer, I get that, but these … in the grand scheme of things … small moments can have such huge impacts. And change everything. Think about that shit, yo.
